Burckhardt technology for IOC’s polypropylene plant

Burckhardt Compression (Burckhardt) will supply carrier gas compressor packages and nitrogen gas compressor packages for India Oil Corporation’s (India Oil) polypropylene plant at its Barauni refining complex in Bihar, India.
Burckhardt’s scope of work includes engineering, manufacturing, supervision, and commissioning activities, all of which are part of Indian Oil’s Barauni refinery capacity expansion project.
Technip Energies was awarded the engineering, procurement, construction, and commissioning (EPCC) contract by Indian Oil for the expansion project in April 2021. The EPCC contract covers the installation of a new once-through hydrocracker unit (OHCU) of 1 million metric tonnes per annum (MMTPA) capacity, a fuel gas treatment unit, and associated facilities. The OHCU, in combination with downstream refinery units, will enable the production of BS-VI Grade fuels – similar to Euro VI Grade fuels – and petrochemicals.
