Foundation stone laid for Varanasi CGD project

Heralding the arrival of Urja Ganga in the city of Varanasi, Prime Minister Narendra Modi has recently laid the foundation stone of the city gas distribution (CGD) project in a function here in presence of Mr Ram Naik, Governor, Uttar Pradesh.

The laying of the foundation stone heralds the start of construction of the CGD project which will bring eco-friendly fuel natural gas to households, vehicles and industries in the holy city of Varanasi. The project is part of GAIL (India) Limited’s Jagdishpur ¬ Haldia and Bokaro ¬ Dhamra Pipeline project (JHBDPL), popularly known as Urja Ganga. The project will be developed simultaneously with the Jagdishpur ¬ Haldia and Bokaro ¬ Dhamra Pipeline project, which is being done for the first time in the country.

Other dignitaries present at the event were Mr Dharmendra Pradhan, Union Minister of State (Independent Charge) for Petroleum and Natural Gas,  Mr Manoj Sinha, Union Minister of State (Independent Charge) for Communications and Minister of State for Railways, Dr. Mahendra Nath Pandey, Union Minister of State for Human Resources Development, Ms Anupriya Patel, Union Minister of State for Health and Family Welfare, Mr Brahmashankar Tripathi, Minister of Khadi and Village Industries, Government of Uttar Pradesh and Members of Parliament Mr Keshav Prasad Maurya and Mr Ramcharit Nishad besides Varanasi Mayor Mr Ram Gopal Mohale.
