Hyderabad gets clearance for second WTE plant

Telangana’s Municipal Administration Minister KTR Rao announced that the union ministry for environment and forest has given clearance for 28 MW waste to energy plant in Hyderabad. 
The plant would take the total capacity of waste to energy plants in the city to 48 MW, the highest in south India.
Animal Husbandry Minister Talasani Srinivas Yadav and Home Minister Mohammad Mehmood Ali and KTR Rao flagged off 1,350 Swachh Auto Tippers (SATs) at Sanathnagar.
KT Rama Rao said, ” Once this plant is made operational, with a total of 48MW waste to energy plants, Hyderabad will become the city with highest capacity plants that convert waste to energy in south India.”
The SATs are provided with a partition for carrying wet and dry waste separately and a provision is given for hazardous waste collection.
