Iran decides to export LNG to South Korea

Azizollah Ramezani has recently said that Tehran has set target to export liquefied natural gas to South Korea, director of international affairs at National Iranian Gas Company (NIGC). According to the report of the public relations of the NIGC, he added that a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) has been signed between NIGC and KOGAS on gas development opportunities.

Ramezani stated that based on a Memorandum of Understanding, a Joint Working Group will establish to cooperate in energy sectors. “Cooperation in construction and operation of IGAT-9 & 11 and also Iran to Oman subsea gas pipeline as well as participation in Mini LNG projects are most important issues which mentioned in MoU,” he said.

Ramezani expressed hope that the signed MoU between NIGC and KOGAS preparing the ground for attracting investments in the country’s gas industry. He went on to say that cooperation in enhancing efficiency of NIGC’s plants & compressor stations and reducing energy intensity of different sectors are another items included in the NIGC-KOGAS cooperation document. The MoU between NIGC and KOGAS shall be effective for a period of two year and could be extended, he noted.
