JSC AEM-Tech manufacture for Phase II Kudankulam

JSC AEM-Technology (part of State Corporation Rosatom’s machine-building division Atomenergomash) has recently started manufacturing the equipment for second phase of Kudankulam NPP (India). Anticorrosive clad layer shall be applied on the tubular blanks for Main Coolant Pipeline of Unit 3 Kudankulam NPP in the Petrozavodsk branch of AEM-Technology JSC. In the ceremony of production starting participated Deputy of Secretary of the Russian Security Council, Mikhail Popov, Head of Karelia Alexander Khudilainen.
“We have passed necessary preparatory stage of the Kudankulam project: we have the necessary equipment and certified personnel, the necessary documentation have been prepared, and the materials have been procured. Competencies of our branch in Petrozavodsk have been qualified by supervising organizations and representative of Indian NPP. We have passed so-called «starting point» and today we give a start to the implementation of “Kudankulam” project directly in the metal,” said Mr. Igor Kotov, Director General of AEM-Technology JSC.
At present, Petrozavodskmash is the only supplier of seamless clad pipes for NPP Reactor Coolant Pipelines in Russia. The Main Coolant Pipeline of 850 mm internal diameter and 146 meters total length connects together the NPP primary coolant equipment: reactor, steam generators and reactor coolant pumps. The Main Coolant Pipeline is designed for circulation of coolant at temperature of up to 320 degrees Celsius with high pressure of 160 atm.
