Kerala takes over Instrumentation Ltd, Palakkad unit

The state cabinet has decided to take over the central public sector undertaking, Instrumentation Ltd, Palakkad, with the takeover being conducted with effect from June 1 after estimating an asset value of INR 53 crore for the PSU. An agreement will be signed with the Central government soon and the assets of the company will be transferred after registering the company as Instrumentation Ltd Kerala.

Instrumentation Limited, better known as IL, is a Government of India enterprise first set up in Kota, Rajasthan, with the objective of attaining self-reliance in the field of control and automation for the process industry.

The Union Ministry of Heavy Industries and Public Enterprises had decided to hand over the company to the state government after failing to find a suitable option to retain it as a Central PSU.

The Cabinet has also given consent to set up solid waste processing and disposal plants in Thiruvananthapuram, Thrissur, Palakkad, Kozhikode, Kannur, Kollam and Malappuram districts with public private participation. The consent was given for plants which aim to produce 5 MW power through the processing of solid waste.
